EMDR Florida
A Compassionate Path to Healing from Trauma, Anxiety, and Perfectionism
Life is demanding on a good day. It feels like so often you are running to this never-ending finish line, and the next day has a new list of demands. You try your best to remain “on the ball,” but you feel like you are running in circles and you are tired. It’s even more frustrating when triggers from the past creep in, sometimes without warning, leaving you feeling like you are gasping for air.
Trauma responses can cause waves in your daily life.
Trying to keep life in check is tough when anxiety, overwhelm, panic, and even rage can blindside you at any given moment. It just doesn’t feel like there is solid ground beneath your feet anymore, and you deserve the chance to feel grounded and be in a space where you can breathe.
I’m an EMDR therapist offering virtual sessions in Florida, and here is how I help.
My name is Kandace (she/her). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Yoga Teacher*. I approach every client holistically, seeking to understand the whole person in front of me. I value inclusivity and support people who are marginalized by helping them to build a safe space where they can work towards healing from the past. I welcome ALL people into my virtual office because who they are as people matters. Through EMDR therapy, I help high-achieving, Type A individuals who’ve experienced complex trauma and sexual abuse, who are exhausted by the weight of carrying the world on their shoulders, who crave to find solid ground beneath their feet and heal from past trauma that has haunted their lives for far too long. If you want to start chasing after the life, you are craving and return to your authentic core. I invite you to contact me for a free 15-minute consultation to discuss if I’m the right fit for what you’re looking for.

Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR Therapy Florida
-
It largely depends on the therapist you are looking to see. Some therapists are paneled under insurance while others are not, so therefore some therapists may be able to bill your insurance for EMDR therapy whereas others may not. Personally, I am able to accept some insurances, and they will cover EMDR therapy sessions. Click here to learn more about the insurances I take and what to do if I’m out of network.

EMDR has received some controversy primarily because it’s quite different from traditional talk therapies. Some mental health professionals initially questioned its effectiveness and scientific basis, especially because EMDR involves eye movements and structured protocols. However, numerous studies now support EMDR’s effectiveness in treating trauma, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. In fact, major organizations like the American Psychological Association (APA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) endorse EMDR as an evidence-based treatment for trauma. So, while it may seem unconventional, EMDR has a strong scientific backing and is increasingly recognized as a powerful tool for healing.

EMDR therapy can seem costly, and here’s why: it requires specialized training and certification, in addition to a therapist’s foundational training and licensing. EMDR sessions are also generally longer than traditional therapy sessions, which allows clients to work deeply and effectively with their trauma in a focused way. The complexity and intensity of EMDR mean that therapists need to create a safe, supportive environment, which can require a higher investment than some other therapeutic approaches. Many clients find the investment in EMDR worthwhile for the lasting relief and healing it provides, helping them save on the long-term costs associated with untreated trauma or prolonged therapy.

The cost of EMDR therapy varies depending on location, therapist experience, and the session length. On average, sessions range from $100 to $250 per hour, with some therapists offering extended sessions or intensive programs that can run higher.
Personally, I offer 60-minute sessions for $167 and 90-minute sessions for $250.
While this can feel like a large investment upfront, many clients find that EMDR offers faster results than some traditional therapies, potentially reducing the overall length and cost of treatment. If cost is a concern, consider discussing options with your therapist, as some may offer sliding scale fees or payment plans to make therapy more accessible.
